Distance Learning On-Line Courses
Distance Learning courses are essentially SELF STUDY COURSES. In a Distance Learning
computer course the student reads the textbook and supplemental materials,
does the assignments on the computer, checks the assignments against available
answer keys, turns in the assignment, and then moves on to the next assignment
- These courses are recommended for students who:
- 1. are self-motivated
- 2. are strong readers
- 3. have good problem-solving skills
- 4. manage time well and can set their own deadlines
- 5. have had some exposure to computers
COURSE FORMAT & COURSE OVERVIEW
Courses are delivered via the internet. Course information, instruction and assignments are delivered over the Internet in real time or asynchronously . Computer modem and net connection are required for this course. Students should be self-motivated since there will be no scheduled class meetings except on line or via email.
- Student will need the following hardware and software to successfully complete this distance learning course:
- A Windows 95 or higher computer with color monitor and capable of showing graphics.
- A 9600 baud or better modem
- MS Office 97 software
- An internet service providor (ISP).
- Web browser such as Netscape (version 3 or later, or Internet Explorer
- Email address and updated email software package. (It is also the student's responsibility to contact instructor (see address above) when registration is completed, to notify instructor of their email address to be used for this course).
